Individual Therapy in Morton, Illinois
Maybe you feel stuck. Maybe life has started to feel like too much, or you keep circling the same worry without getting anywhere. Talking with someone who is trained to help can change how that feels. At Stride Mental Health, individual therapy in Morton, Illinois gives you a private, steady place to sort through what's weighing on you.
Individual therapy is one-on-one work between you and a licensed therapist. You bring what's going on, and your therapist helps you understand it, work through it, and move toward what you actually want. Sessions run about 53 to 60 minutes. Some people come for a specific problem, others stay longer to work through something deeper. Both are normal.
What working with us looks like
The first step is reaching out. We usually respond within one to two days. From there, we clarify insurance or private pay, note your goals, and send a link for your intake paperwork through a secure portal.
The paperwork asks for informed consent, a short questionnaire, two brief check-ins on anxiety and mood, and payment details. Once that's done and your insurance is verified, we match you with a therapist who fits what you're looking for. We don't try to be everything to everyone. If we can't help with your specific goals, we'll help you find someone who can.
Who provides your care
Our therapists are licensed and experienced across a range of settings.
Allison Schieferle Uhlenbrock, MA, NCC, LCPC, has practiced since 2014 in clinical, school, and private settings, including the Children's Hospital of Illinois and Knox College. She has advanced training in childhood and adolescent anxiety, grief and loss, DBT, and EMDR.
Marie Mullins, LCPC, has helped clients heal since 2012, most recently at a trauma recovery center. She is trained in EMDR and Brainspotting and works often with survivors of trauma, chronic illness, and major life change.
Hannah Courtney, LCPC, draws from somatic therapy, Internal Family Systems, and other integrative approaches. As a member of the LGBTQI+ and neurodivergent community, she brings a strongly affirming approach to care.
Who We Help
We see adults, teens, children, older adults, and families. People come to us for anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, stress and burnout, grief, OCD, faith and spiritual questions, life transitions, and chronic illness. Right now we have specific room for neurodivergent clients.
Many people begin therapy when worry starts interrupting their sleep, their focus at work, or their ability to relax, and anxiety is one of the most common reasons adults reach out. We also work with adults who struggle with focus, organization, and follow-through, whether or not they have a formal ADHD diagnosis.
For clients working through trauma, EMDR offers a structured way to process painful memories without having to relive them in detail. When the difficulty centers on a relationship rather than one person, couples and family therapy may be a better starting point than individual sessions.
We do not treat disordered eating or substance use disorders, and we'll gladly refer you to a specialist for those.
