This work fits adults, teens, children, and older adults who feel anxiety getting in the way. That might be constant worry, racing thoughts, panic, or a low hum of dread that never fully quiets.
Many people reach out when anxiety is keeping you up at night or bleeding into your work and everyday tasks start to feel harder than they should. Others come in for related struggles like OCD, perinatal and postpartum worry, or anxiety tangled up with grief and life change.
We also welcome LGBTQ clients and have real room and interest right now for neurodivergent clients. One of our therapists is part of the neurodivergent and LGBTQ community with advanced training in this care.
A note on honesty: we don't treat disordered eating or substance use disorder here. If that's your main concern, we'll help you find someone who's the right fit.

People rarely open with a diagnosis. They say things like "I feel stuck," or "life is overwhelming," or "I can't get what I want." Sometimes it's "I don't know how to help someone I love."
All of those are good reasons to start. You don't need the right words before you reach out.

Sessions run 53 to 60 minutes. Your therapist gets to know your history, your goals, and what's actually happening day to day, then builds an approach around that.
Sessions often draw on cognitive behavioral therapy to help you notice and shift the thought patterns that fuel anxious spirals. Depending on your needs, your therapist may also use EMDR, Internal Family Systems, DBT, or somatic and acceptance-based methods.
Anxiety rarely travels alone, and it often overlaps with ongoing stress and burnout that leaves you feeling depleted. Your therapist will help you address the whole picture, not just the surface symptoms.
Some people find it helpful to combine individual work with an anxiety support group where others understand what they're going through.
What individual anxiety therapy is
Individual therapy is one-on-one time with a licensed therapist who helps you understand what's driving your anxiety and what to do about it. Sessions are private and paced to you. You set the goals, and your therapist helps you move toward them.
At Stride Mental Health, sessions happen in our office or online anywhere in Illinois. and Tennessee Virtual sessions work well if driving in adds stress or your week is already full.
What you can realistically expect
Therapy is not a switch that turns anxiety off. What it can do is help you understand your triggers, quiet harsh self-criticism, and respond to worry instead of being run by it.
Our goal is to help you move closer to the life you want, at the stride and pace that's best for you. Some weeks feel like real progress. Others are steadier and quieter. Both count.
FAQs
How do I know if I need therapy for anxiety or if I'm just stressed?
1
Consider therapy when anxiety is steady, not passing, and it's affecting your sleep, work, or relationships. Everyone feels stress. When worry sticks around most days, gets in the way of things you care about, or feels bigger than the situation, that's a sign talking to a therapist could help.
Do you offer online anxiety therapy, or is it in person only?
2
Both. You can meet at our office or by secure video anywhere in Illinois and Tennessee. Virtual sessions are a full option, not a lesser one, and many clients mix the two depending on their week.
How soon can I get an appointment, and what does it cost?
3
We usually respond to a new inquiry within one to two days, and some clinicians can schedule the same week. We're in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare, and Caterpillar-based insurance, and we offer private pay. We'll confirm your coverage before your first session so there are no surprises.
What if it turns out you're not the right fit for me?
